SP1 provides upgrades to Macroscope 4.6 content and deliverables

Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Macroscope 4.6 (November 2006) offers several improvements and upgrades. The highlights are summarized below. For a more detailed explanation of the contents of SP1 refer to the document: What's New - V.4.6 Service Pack 1.

ProductivityCentre - Security Aspect Added

  • Security Aspect Adaptation added- The Security Aspect of IT development is presented in a new section accessible via the Adaptation option of the ProductivityCentre menu bar.
  • Security Aspect details in Solution Implementation- Where appropriate within the base process, details of the Security Aspect have been incorporated within the processes, deliverables and roles.
  • Security points in process models - There is a new padlock icon which when toggled will reveal or hide the security orientation points and security control points that can be applied to the process.

ProductivityCentre - Agile Delivery Adaptation Improved

  • Deliverables- Four deliverables have been aligned with their counterparts in ManagementSuite, while for six other deliverables new examples have been added to the support material views.
  • Content- Improved precision on topics such as testing, the change specialist role, and how Agile compares to the other paths of ProductivityCentre.
    Navigation - Links added and mouseovers improved in the process models.

ProductivityCentre - Process Models and Deliverables Improved

  • New page for each sub-process - The phase-level process models are now easier to read. Instead of presenting all the information on a single page, there is now a new page for each sub-process.
  • Optional activities in process models - Optional activities and deliverables of a phase are now always present in a phase-level process model and indicated as optional by a lighter font.
  • Improvements to deliverables - Minor adjustments have been applied to 18 deliverables.

ProductivityCentre - Testing Roles Revised

  • Testing roles revised - Descriptions of the testing roles have been improved to better reflect today's testing practices.

ManagementSuite

  • Deliverables - Templates of short-form (no title page) deliverables have been improved and adjustments and minor corrections were made to 12 other deliverables.
  • Navigation - Mouseovers have been added or improved on several pages.

ArchitectureLab

  • Deliverable content revised - Content of nine deliverables has been revised to include more detailed descriptions and to clarify distinctions between information, application, and technology infrastructure resources.

ResultStation

  • Value Plot Generator tool added - A new tool has been added to the Value Plot technique that automatically produces a value plot for the data and parameters provided.
  • Techniques content improved - Improvements were made to three techniques: Categorization Approach, Value at Risk Assessment and Value Plot.
  • Relationship between base processes - Links between the Program Management and Portfolio Management processes are now explicitly described on the Overview page.
